The infrastructure spending falls far short of what is needed and is deeply disappointing. In the face of the climate emergency, it is criminally short-sighted and a huge missed opportunity.
TODAY'S BUDGET
Caroline Lucas MP is calling on the Chancellor to give urgently needed support to small businesses in Brighton which are facing huge disruption and losses because of the coronavirus.
Brighton and Hove is particularly vulnerable because of the importance of the hospitality industry to the local economy. The city’s language schools are also suffering, with a drop in enrolments of as much as 80 percent.

TEACH THE FUTURE ON CLIMATE CRISIS
I believe that climate and environmental teaching is a vital part of a child’s education. But our education system is not giving students a real understanding of the climate emergency or environmental issues. Learning about the climate and biodiversity crises is restricted to the optional geography GCSE or is, briefly, touched on science classes. It’s not surprising that most students leave school with a limited knowledge of the climate emergency but wanting to know more.
WELLBEING AND LIMITS TO GDP GROWTH
On Wednesday, the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Limits to Growth will be relaunched at an event that will include contributions from leading experts on wellbeing economics.
THE EXTRA TIME PROJECT
When a child starts struggling to school, it can sometimes be very difficult to stop a rapid downward spiral. So it’s very exciting to see a pioneering project in Brighton had Hove which is making a real difference for young people.
