Letter to the Rt Hon Greg Clark MP - Minister of State for Decentralisation - 11 February 2011

The Rt Hon Greg Clark MP
Minister of State for Decentralisation
Department for Communities and Local Government
Eland House
Bressenden Place
London
SW1E 5DU

11 February 2011

Dear Greg,

Localism Bill

I am writing to join my constituents in urging you to include a community right of appeal in the Decentralisation and Localism Bill.

As you will know, a huge number of non-governmental and campaign groups have also called for a community right of appeal to be added to the Bill. I am sure you agree that radically overhauling the planning system to give local communities greater control over applications that affect them, but not giving them the right to challenge the final decision, is an anathema to many people, including my constituents.

I am following this Bill closely, as I have a number of reservations about it, including the lack of a community right of appeal. I look forward to your response.

Yours sincerely,

Caroline Lucas, MP, Brighton Pavilion
