Brighton Housing Trust - a lot more than just housing! Greens' National LGBT manifesto launch

Caroline with human rights activist Peter Tatchell

Feeling very inspired after a fascinating meeting with the Brighton Housing Trust on Friday.

Their work is even more far-reaching than I realised, and it's clear that the BHT team are incredibly dedicated.

They seem able to push the boundaries of what we think is possible, and combine that with really innovative and effective ways of delivering their services.

I particularly like the way they talk about the "humanisation" agenda rather than the current bureaucratic jargon around "personalisation" - it seems to sum up their approach.

In the evening, as Green Party Leader, I spoke at a fantastic launch event of our national election manifesto for the country's lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) community.

Felt very proud to be a part of the only party that is truly committed to LGBT equality.

Lots of people there were very angry at the Conservatives for their appalling voting record on LGBT matters, and seemed keen to get involved with our campaign.

In a packed room at the Brighton Tavern, I enjoyed listening to my old friend and noted human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell.

Peter gave his usual clear and incisive round-up of where all the parties really stand on LGBT issues.

It also coincided well with the Conservative Spring Conference here in Brighton this weekend, as we highlighted the Tories' continuing failure to commit to full LGBT equality.
