Burning the Clocks set to light up Brighton

The Burning the Clocks parade has been a Brighton tradition for almost twenty years.

Local residents make their own paper and willow lanterns to carry through the city, and finish up with bonfire on the beach.

It’s beautiful, completely free and managed by the community – and is seen as an alternative to the more commercial Christmas celebrations.

So I’m very happy to support a new crowdfunding campaign from local art charity, Same Sky, to raise enough money to put on a spectacular fire show and firework display at this year’s event.

Crowdfunding works when each person gives a little money to the cause and tells their friends about it, who then give some themselves.

The hope is that this all adds up to enough for the idea to become a reality.

Everyone who donates to the Same Sky fund will be invited to take a role in the Burning the Clocks celebrations on 21 December.

For example, funders who give a £30 donation will receive a personalised lantern and a place in the parade.
