Caroline joins the PCS picket line

Tomorrow all three Green Party PPCs for Brighton & Hove will attend the picketline outside the Job Centre in Edward Street to show support for members of the PCS union taking strike action against privatisation and cuts to junior civil servants and public employees.

Caroline Lucas , who is tipped by pollsters to become the next MP for Brighton Pavilion constituncy, will be joined by Ben Duncan and Ian Davey.

Speaking ahead of the strike, Caroline Lucas, who will speak at the demonstration tomorow, said:

"The Green Party is the only political party genuinely committed to protecting the public sector and public sector workers.

"We believe wholeheartedly in high quality public services that are publicly funded, publicly owned, and publicly accountable.

"Rather than the savage cuts being planned by the other parties, we want serious investment in public services.

"It's precisely at a time of recession that we need government investment to safeguard jobs, otherwise we face the risk of a double-dip recession."
