Caroline Lucas: amendment defeat makes clear that Parliament won't have meaningful say on deal with the EU

Caroline Lucas has responded to the defeat of amendment NC110 in Parliament this evening.

She said:

‘The defeat of amendment NC110 – and Labour’s withdrawal of their main amendment- makes clear that Parliament won’t be having a meaningful say on the final deal with the EU. With the Government’s own spokesperson confirming that nothing of substance has been newly offered today, it’s clear that the earlier celebrations from the Labour benches were excruciatingly premature.

‘This defeat cements the Tories extreme brexit plans and provides ample evidence to waivering MPs that they should vote against this Bill at a third reading if they want to protect the UK from falling off a Brexit cliff edge.’
