Caroline puts her case at church hustings

Green Party leader and Brighton Pavilion candidate, Caroline Lucas, addressed voters in a Question time style event at Calvary Evangelical Church on Thursday 29 April.

Caroline Lucas joined representatives from three other parties to debate issues of interest in the constituency and nationally.

Caroline Lucas said: "I'm thoroughly looking forward to this opportunity to address some of the issues close to the hearts of people in Brighton and Hove.

"It's a wonderful chance to discuss our manifesto for fairness and equality and to highlight the ways in which we are different from the 'main' parties in our commitment to creating a better future for everyone.

"I am completely committed to making Brighton a better, safer, greener and more prosperous city.

"Issues I am campaigning on include developing a new secondary school to ease the pressure on school places, providing more and better affordable housing and making our streets safer by implementing a 20mph speed limit.

"There are many pressing issues facing the residents of Brighton and I look forward to addressing some of these with residents at this event."

"The event was hosted by Calvary Road Evangelical Church Elder, Chris Fry and began with an introduction by the church minister, Philip Wells. Each of the candidates was invited to make an opening statement about why they got into politics and a closing statement addressing what they would do for Brighton Pavilion.
