Today Caroline Lucas, Green Party parliamentary candidate for Brighton Pavilion Constituency, will visit Brighton Housing Trust's Addiction Recovery Project.
The Recovery Project is a residential therapeutic community offering a comprehensive programme of support for individuals who have had problems with an addiction to drugs and/or alcohol.
Whilst Brighton and Hove is in the top ten places where people most want to live, the city has the highest rates of drug-related death in England and Wales, and has the second highest suicide rate.
Speaking ahead of her visit, Caroline, who is tipped by pollsters to become the MP for Brighton Pavilion, said:
"The Recovery Project is a vital service here in Brighton. As well as providing first class support to those suffering from addictions, the Project has won prizes for it's client-cultivated garden and meditation area, built on what was originally waste ground.
"A thriving fishing club is also run and maintained by the Project's clients.
"I am really looking forward to meeting with Andy Winter to discuss what I could do to help support the Project if I am elected as the MP for Brighton Pavilion, as well as learning more about the way the Project is organised."
