Caroline welcomes green light for hospital redevelopment

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals has received the final approval for the 3Ts Redevelopment of the Royal Sussex County Hospital. This clears the way for the construction of two new clinical buildings on the front of the hospital site. Work will begin in January next year on the first of the buildings, shown on the right in the image below.

Caroline Lucas said:

“This is wonderful news for our city.

“This announcement follows an unwavering cross-party community campaign. We should all be proud to have secured by our collective effort, the 21st century hospital Brighton and Hove residents deserve.  I will now be keeping on the pressure to ensure that the development and running of our new hospital is kept out of private hands. Hospital services must not be run for profit - that means keeping estate services public and looking closely at how we can ensure other services such as portering, catering and cleaning are kept in-house.”
