Government must re-think "damaging and demoralising" changes to GCSE grade boundaries

Caroline Lucas has written to Education Secretary Michael Gove today to demand that the Government urgently reviews this summer's GCSE grade boundary decisions.

The changes have come in mid way through the year, meaning that many students have received lower grades than predicted.

The Brighton Pavilion MP is calling for a reversal of those changes made during the 2011-2012 academic year.

Caroline has spoken to a number of constituents and teachers in Brighton Pavilion who are deeply concerned by the effect on young people.

She said:

"The last minute changing of GCSE grade boundaries has been deeply unfair, demoralising and highly damaging to the prospects of many young people in the city.

“The Government cannot wash its hands of responsibility for this debacle."
