A winning streak at Carden Primary motivates yet another blog entry on the school – this time because it has been shortlisted to win a £135,000 energy makeover!
Carden is one of three Sussex schools shortlisted in the competition.
The winner will be the school that gets the most text votes by 21 January.
Carden was the first school built in Europe after the second world war and was designed to be adapted into a hospital if an outbreak of tuberculosis occurred.
The problems of age, space of the rooms and corridors and original heating systems mean that the school now desperately needs an energy makeover.
Teacher and Governor Paul Harrington said: “we'd spend the money on renewable energy systems which would help to promote the idea of sustainable energy for the future to the school community.”
To vote for Carden text ‘ENERGY 0295’ (without the speech marks) to 80360 (costs 50p plus normal operator text charge).
Alternatively, call 0901 151 0295 (calls cost no more than 51p from a BT landline, calls from mobiles and other networks may vary).
The deadline is 21 January and the winner will be announced in the Argus the following week.
Good luck Carden!
