Lobbying Bill - a message of thanks

The Lobbying Bill survived votes on amendments in the House of Lords yesterday, and is now set to become law.

Caroline said:

"The Government’s Lobbying Bill has been a source of profound concern to me and many constituents.

"As your MP I’ve used every opportunity I can to speak out against this chilling piece of legislation, which would shut down legitimate voices seeking to raise awareness on issues of legitimate public interest.

"Sadly, despite brilliant campaigning, with thousands of people in Brighton and across the country making clear their concerns for the future of our democracy, the Bill is now set to become law.

"Thanks to everyone who got in touch with me on this issue, and I’m sorry we weren’t successful.  However, the fight against this terrible law, and for freedom of speech, will go on."
