On the campaign trail - 10:10, Community Base and the Hoteliers Association

Very busy day ahead - have to cram in lots of meetings and canvassing as I'm off to Spring Conference in London tomorrow.

Will be seeing James Grugeon from the 10:10 campaign to cut emissions by 10% by 2010, to discuss how I can support them further and catch up on how the campaign is going. Green Councillors were instrumental in getting the Council to sign up to 10:10, so will be interesting to find out how he thinks they're doing.

I'll also be meeting Colin Chalmers from Community Base, who have recently been hit with the bombshell that they will no longer be allowed to sell advertising on the space where billboards could go on the side of their building.

This decision will cost them dearly, and the cost will be have to be passed on the the smaller community groups they work with, who are already smarting from the recession.

They urgently need to plug the hole in their revenue, and I'll be finding out what I can do to help them if I'm elected.

Rumour has it the decision might have been because we hired their billboard for our campaign over the Labour conference, so I really hope they won't regret selling us the space too much.

Finally, I have a meeting with the hoteliers association - an important industry here in Brighton.

I'll make sure I report back...
