Caroline with Bert Williams MBE of Brighton and Hove Black History at the new Centre

Brighton’s Black and Minority Ethnic Community Partnership took a step forward this week, moving to a flagship building that was built as part of the New England Quarter development on the Brighton Station site.

The new resource centre at 10A Fleet Street is intended to support community-led organisations and to host activities that enable the Black and Minority Ethnic communities of Brighton and Hove to participate fully in the economic, social and cultural life of the city.

The premises includes meeting rooms, offices and ‘hot desks’ and the demand for these facilities is such that all the offices are fully booked and the meeting rooms are already receiving lots of use!

I was delighted to attend the Opening Ceremony, where the ribbon was cut by Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex Peter Field.

More pictures of the Opening Ceremony, together with booking details for the Centre can be found on the website for the Black and Minority Ethnic Community Partnership - http://bmecp.org.uk/
