Police Cuts and Sussex Police Authority

I will be writing to the Sussex Police Authority to urge them to reconsider a proposed cut of nearly 100 jobs. The meeting to discuss it is tomorrow, in Lewes. A final decision on the police budget for 2010-111 will be made in Chichester in February. The police redundancies will affect officers of all ranks, as well as support staff. The move comes in the face of government cuts to Sussex Police and the Tory-dominated Sussex Police Authority's determination to set one of the lowest council tax rises in Sussex's history.
