Putting pressure on the Prime Minister for a Robin Hood Tax

Just a quick update on my last post - was very happy to get a question in to David Cameron during PMQs this week on the campaign for a Robin Hood Tax.

Having joined forces with the Robin Hood Tax campaigners outside Parliament in the morning, I then went inside Parliament and put the following to the PM:

"Will the Prime Minister listen to both the demonstrators outside Parliament today and the 80,000 people who have emailed him in recent weeks and commit to becoming a leading advocate for the introduction of a Robin Hood tax at the G20 Summit in Cannes with the revenue ear-marked to address sustainable development and the growing climate crisis?"

As mentioned previously, I have had hundreds of letters and emails from constituents on this issue, and putting this question to the PM was an important way to ramp up the pressure on the Government ahead of the G20.

I was also very pleased to see the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, come out in favour of the Tax, which would raise billions for global efforts to reduce poverty and fight climate change...
