Responding to today's announcement of a government review into the rail industry, the Caroline said:
"Chris Grayling knows exactly what is wrong with our profit-driven rail system - and the disaster that was May's timetable changes.
"I've heard from hundreds of constituents who are at their wits' end after rail bosses slashed Gatwick Express services at Preston Park station, and it's an uphill struggle to get those responsible to deliver the trains passengers have paid for.
"This review is an attempt to save the Transport Secretary's skin, and risks delaying a solution to this nightmare even further, with very little prospect of real change. Ministers should take responsibility for May's terrible timetable changes and admit they are incompetently presiding over a failed model.
"Chris Grayling needs to go and we need to bring our railways into public ownership, reduce fares and give rail workers, passenger groups, and local authorities a say on how services are run."
