On the campaign trail - Sussex protests and "Mothers Uncovered"

I'm off to two events in Brighton tomorrow.

One is with the "Save Childcare at Sussex" Parents Group.

We need to stop the proposed cuts to not just the creche at Sussex, but also support services such as sexual health.

Sussex University's Council will meet tomorrow to decide the future of these services.

I've written to Michael Farthing, the Vice-Chancellor of Sussex Uni about the proposed cuts, and I'll continue to support people lobbying against the cutbacks.

My other meeting is with "Mothers Uncovered" at the Tarner Children's Centre.

From 1pm to 3pm, I'll be at a performance by mothers who have been taking part in a series of creative writing workshops.

Maggie Gordon-Walker had the idea for the workshops.

She said in the Argus that: "The best thing is seeing their confidence grow as they talk about things they might not have been able to elsewhere."

She adds: "I have been staggered by the power and intensity of the material created, especially those who say they're ‘not really a writer'."

My party launched our policies towards women's equality on Monday, International Women's Day.

Women in Britain working full-time earn, on average, 17% less than men working full-time.

Under 11% of board members on major British companies are female, and women still carry out the majority of unpaid work in the home.

We need to promote equality for men and women across all aspects of society.
