Letter to Uber about workers' rights

Dear Jamie,

I am writing in support of members of ADCU in my constituency who have been taking action against UBER for below minimum wage pay, unfair dismissals and an arbitrary work allocation/dispatch system.

I share their concerns that UBER has defied the Supreme Court by continuing to refuse to pay drivers for stand by working time and that, while this remains the case, the problem of the gig economy can never be solved.

As you will be aware, ACDU have three demands:

· £2 pm / 15% commission – scrap the up-front pricing & dispatch model

· Pay for all working time – respect Supreme Court ruling

· End unfair dismissals – pay compensation for lost wages on suspension

I would like to take this opportunity to encourage you to abide by the Supreme Court’s ruling, negotiate with ACDU on the points above and do the right thing by my constituents.

Yours sincerely
