Pavilion MP Caroline Lucas today expressed her support for the Give Me Strength Campaign, which calls for smart investment in early intervention and family support services.
Caroline said:
"I'm delighted to support 4Children's Give Me Strength campaign.
"Without the right support, family problems such as addiction, depression or domestic violence can seriously blight the lives of children - leaving a terrible legacy of misery, dysfunction and wasted potential for future generations.
"It's easy for people to blame parents, but being a good parent is not always easy - and some people need extra support in raising their children.
"The Give Me Strength campaign makes sense in social terms because its aim is to reduce the misery of family breakdown. But it also makes economic sense.
"By spending money now on early intervention to help families in difficulty, the Government will need to spend less in the future on tackling the crime, unemployment and antisocial behaviour that often results from family breakdown."
If you'd like to join Caroline in her support for the campaign, please send an email to ciaran.osborne@4children.org.uk or sign the petition on the Give Me Strength website.
