Caroline today pledged her support to carers across Brighton and Hove as part of the national Carers Week 2015 awareness campaign, which runs from 8-14th June.

There are 6.5 million people in the UK who care for a partner, relative or friend, of which around 24,000 carers are in Brighton and Hove.

Caroline Lucas, the Green Party’s MP for Brighton Pavilion, has called for the Government to scrap the Regulatory Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA) and replace it with new legislation which complies with international human rights standards.

Caroline's comments come after the publication of the Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation’s report on the laws governing state surveillance.

Lucas is demanding that the Government acts with urgency to solve the environmental and social crises facing Britain.
